What is Maiden Maine?

Maiden Maine is SailMaine’s way of introducing more women of all ages to the sport of sailing and building a strong women’s sailing community.

Maiden Maine Sailing Day is a sailing open house for women interested in learning more about the sport and about SailMaine. There will be two sessions with 20 participants in each session and a lunch that both groups of participants are invited to attend.

This day is intended for beginner sailors and every participant will be paired with an experienced sailor, so no experience is necessary. SailMaine will provide lifejackets, but plan to wear comfortable clothing so you are able to move easily. Close-toed shoes are recommended. Please bring warm clothes and/or rain gear depending on the weather! Sunscreen is also a good idea.

Both sessions are invited to a panel discussion with local female sailors, with lunch provided, from 12:30-1:30pm.

  • Morning session from 9:30am to 12:30pm

  • Lunch hour and panel discussion 12:30pm to 1:30pm

  • Afternoon session from 1:30pm to 4:30pm

SailMaine is proud to make this a GREEN event. Please
bring a reusable water bottle and we will supply plastic-free dinnerware etc. We will strive to reach the highest level on the Sailors for the Sea Clean Regatta Checklist and welcome any volunteers for our Green Team!
