Scott Akerman
Cruising/Racing Instructor
A licensed Captain with a 100-ton masters ticket and 75,000 sea miles, Scott served for seven years as a yacht and delivery captain for Oyster Marine, and several private Oyster owners in fifteen countries.. He also has extensive coastal and ocean racing experience from the sailing team at Salve Regina College, to the classic 12 meters Gleam, Northern Light, and Intrepid, and Bob Stevens-designed 78' Goshawk and 50' Ginger. Akerman was part of the Boston Sailing Center for nine years, leaving as head sailing instructor in 1999 having received the "Best of Boston Award" for best sailing instructor in 1998 from BOSTON Magazine and the Improper Bostonian Magazine. |
