How to join a SailMaine High School Sailing team

Registration for the 2008-2009 season is now open. Registration for Fall HS Sailing is due on Monday, August 4th, 2008. We have updated our forms so that you can complete them on your computer. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 or later in order to submit forms this way. Of course we will still accept completed forms through the mail, if you prefer. To join a team, everyone, from whatever school, needs to complete the following forms:

Conduct Form (pdf)

2008-2009 Program Fees
Single Season (fall OR spring)= $500.00
Double Season (fall AND spring)= $900.00

Fee Waivers:
Full and partial scholarships are offered for the Junior Sailing and High School Sailing programs through SailMaine, Portland Parks and Recreation, and private donors. Please contact Sailing Master Jeff Cumming (sailmail AT sailmaine DOT org or 650-7878) with questions about scholarships. Do not let financial issues prevent your young sailor from sailing: we can help. You may download the Fee Waiver Application here.

Please note that some experience is required for participation in the Spring season; Fall has both Varsity/J.V. and recreational or "learn to sail" programs.

Requirements

Spring Sailing requires the use of a dry suit or wet suit when required by the coaching staff. Water temps in April are in the 30's. For safety reasons we cannot allow you to sail without a dry suit during the spring. Students are responsible for providing their own dry suit.

Dry suits are NOT required for the fall season.
